'' Requirements for a Private Licence
Must be seventeen years of age
Obtain a Category 3 Medical
Accumulate 45 hours of flight time, of which:
17 hours must be with an instructor
12 hours must be solo
Attend 40 hours of private ground school
Achieve 60% on a written examination (PPHEL)
Demonstrate ability on a practical flight test
Reference CARs 421.27
Requirements for Private Airplane Conversion
Accumulate 30 hours of flight time, of which:
17 hours must be with an instructor
8 hours must be solo
Attend 20 hours of private helicopter ground school
Achieve 60% on written examination (PHRAC)
Demonstrate ability on a practical flight test
Reference CARs 421.27 ...''
