'' Machinery and equipment are used in a variety of workplace settings. Improper installation, operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment can lead to serious injury or death.
This course provides an overview of safe practices related to the operation of machinery and equipment. It is designed as an awareness program and is suitable for all staff who are exposed to machinery and equipment, including supervisors and team leaders. It may be undertaken as a separate short course, or combined with other courses as part of a broader program of occupational health and safety.
Objectives
This course is designed to provide you with an understanding of the basic hazards and control strategies associated with safe operation of machinery and equipment.
On completion of this course you should understand:
the importance of guards and other safety devices for certain types of equipment the need to properly de-energise machinery and equipment before performing service or repair work the need to carry out periodic risk (hazard) assessment, and follow-up action. ...''
