'' Projects are undertaken at all levels of an organisation. Projects may involve a single unit of one organisation or may cross organisational boundaries. This course will give you an insight into what a project is. You will also examine the processes of project management and look at the relationship of project management within the context of general management and the organisational setting. This is an introductory course for those new to the discipline of project management and for those students embarking on the nine project management courses forming the accredited level IV program.
At the completion of this section, you should be able to understand and explain: What a project is, what project management is and its relationship to other management disciplines. You will also gain an understanding of project phases and the project life cycle as well as the influences on project outcomes such as stakeholders, organisational influences and socioeconomic influences. You will also learn about project processes, process groups and process interactions.
There are no set time expectations for completion of this course. The course is designed to be self-paced and you should navigate through at your own rate. If you work through the course without a break, you should be able to complete it within three to six hours. The course comprises of three sections (excluding overview), which may be completed separately. These sections typically require around one to two hours to complete. ...''
