Course Description:

'' This course prepares advanced practice nurses with leadership skills to plan, implement and coordinate and evaluate health care, as well as formulate policy for a diverse and multicultural society. Graduates will be well equipped to contribute to the health of individuals, families, communities and the development of the profession. The program is designed using flexible teaching delivery options and provides for a range of individual career pathways, including nursing or management positions within industry, government or independent professional practice. The program can be taken by (a) coursework, or (b) coursework and a 15,000 word project, or (c) coursework and a 25,000 word thesis. Coursework studies cover research methods and issues, primary health care and health promotion strategies, caring in nursing, nursing practice and management, case management and care integration, nursing informatics, education in nursing and palliative care nursing and other advanced practice studies. Major study options are available in the following areas: children; critical care; education; emergency; gerontics; mental health; and palliative care. These specialties prepare nurses for advanced practice roles in community, acute care and continuing care clinical environments. Early exit options at Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma are available. ...''
