'' NOLS specializes in teaching the teachers¡ªPaul Petzoldt founded the school in 1965 for this very purpose. On this course, you¡¯ll learn the latest in outdoor education skills and techniques alongside other individuals for whom teaching is a passion. Some will have outdoor experience, some will have classroom teaching experience, and others will be students in university outdoor programs.
This course, which includes a 17-day backpacking section and a 4-day rock climbing camp, is packed with how-to¡¯s on living, traveling and leading groups in the backcountry. Your classroom will be Wyoming and Montana¡¯s rugged Absaroka, Beartooth and Wind River ranges, where granite peaks that reach 13,000 feet and high mountain lakes and rivers will teach you what it takes to lead and educate others in the wilderness and beyond.
