Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' On this course, you will learn basic backcountry skills, but youll also learn cultural skills and basic Hindi as you interact with local villagers. The Milam Valley of the Kumaon Himalaya, or the Kuari Pass area of the Garwhal region are a step back in time; youll visit tea houses and hike past fields that are still worked with water buffalo. We travel beyond the normal parameters of tourist treks, so youll be seeing an India that few foreigners encounter. Youll also make your way up high mountain passes, some reaching 15,000 feet above sea level, and travel through river valleys lush with foliage. Your route may also include snow, rock and scree. Youll be camping out in tents, learning skills such as judgment and decision making, and enjoying the people who live in this fascinating wilderness.
