This is the expedition of a lifetime for anyone seeking a backcountry travel experience with a focus on fly fishing. You’ll backpack in the remote Chilean wilderness frontier north of the regional capital city of Coyhaique, pursuing the pristine trout habitat of tributary streams in the famous Rio Cisnes Valley system. These crystal clear headwaters teem with wild brown and rainbow trout in a freestone stream environment rich in insect life but rarely visited by humans, other than the occasional local sheepherder (poblador).
On this course, you’ll learn the fundamental travel and expeditioning skills that are the hallmark of the NOLS experience, as well as a custom-tailored fly-fishing progression based on students’ individual starting knowledge and experience.
