Course Description:
'' The Accounting Clerk Technician/Payroll Administration program provides the opportunity for full- and part-time study, and offers two streams of study - Accounting Management and Accounting Clerk Technician (also known as Payroll Administration). The Accounting Clerk Technician (Payroll Administration) is inclined towards the practice of accounting and payroll administration. It is more hands-on and less academically challenging, allowing for optional short certificate courses. It is also a growing field of practice. Two reasons account for this growth. The first has to do with advances in the world of computers, and the second is the increasing need of small- and medium-sized businesses to recruit Accounting Clerk Technician (Payroll Administration) graduates to perform such duties as payroll, accounts payables and receivables, book-keeping, general ledger reconciliations, and to some extent auditing of accounts.
Further, this program offers the opportunity for both full- and part-time studies, with transferable courses (Bookkeeping and Managerial Accounting) to the Canadian Payroll Associations certification requirements. It also allows for optional short certificate courses. The program is a growing field of practice. Two reasons may account for this growth. The first has to do with advances in the world of computers. The second reason is because of the increasing need of small- and medium-sized businesses to recruit Accounting Management graduates to perform such duties as payroll, accounts payables and receivables, book-keeping, general ledger reconciliations, and to some extent auditing of accounts. For this reason, within the Accounting Management qualification, there are optional short certificate courses, which can be taken in conjunction with the main accounting diploma qualification, or separately in their own right. Although the optional short certificate qualifications derive directly from the Accounting Management Diploma, they are individually self-standing and comprise a) Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) and Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certifications of the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) b) Accounting Clerk and c) Accounting Assistant. You can also take a simple course in QuickBooks, Simply Accounting and/or Bookkeeping.
