'' The course answers questions such as: what is human resource management, and what are the legal functions of human resource management. Students will have the opportunity to explore concepts of job design and analysis, human resource planning, recruitment, and selection. The elements of employee orientation and training; career development; managing quality and productivity; performance appraisal; establishing pay plans, including performance-based financial incentive options, will be examined. The course provides an overview of labour relations with respect to collective bargaining and contract administration as well as occupational health and safety. It examines leadership quality in human resources management, and challenges learners to gain insights into management concepts, theories and models of strategic human resources management in terms of staff recruitment, career planning and development, performance management, total compensation, employee relations and management, and finally the evaluation of human resources management. ...''
