Course Description:
'' This course focuses on the basic understanding of the laws that govern business organizations. It will introduce students to the Canadian legal system, and explores resolution of conflicts through the courts, litigation, and its alternatives. It will also examine agency law, employment law, business contract law, torts, professional liability, sales and consumer protection, as well as the competencies necessary to form and operate sole proprietorships, general and limited partnerships and corporations, while highlighting the rights and duties of shareholders, directors and officers. Some aspects of provincial securities practices will be evaluated. Personal and real property, intellectual property and insurance will be examined. ...''
