Course Description:

'' Our Acting for the Screen program at Pacific Film & New Media Academy works to develop the actor within each student. An exploratory and developmental approach is used whereby the student not only discovers his or her personal acting ability, but works to refine, polish, and improve it. Secondly, the program gives the student a working understanding of the varied opportunities for employment for actors within the film industry. The approaches and processes used within the program will be drawn from a wide and varied spectrum, the aim being to encourage each student to develop an individual approach to the work of acting.

The Screen Acting program recognizes that the contemporary actor will make their living by working in varied mediums and therefore endeavours to provide a solid training foundation from which actors can approach and thrive in a challenging and evolving industry.

Our program aims to accomplish the following:
To introduce and familiarize students with approach, tools, techniques, and knowledge that will equip those to enter the profession of acting, with a particular emphasis on acting for film, television, voice-over.
To assist students in the development of skills and abilities which will help them to maintain a healthy balance between an understanding of acting as an art form with an ancient and complex history and a realistic perception of the contemporary industry and its demands.
To equip the students with a strong and balanced sense of self-reliance, so that they are well resourced to enter a competitive and sometimes challenging business.

In addition to scheduled instruction, students have the opportunity to be cast in the short videos and films produced by their colleagues in the filmmaking course. The faculty provides mentorship for each production.
