Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' Combining technical and creative development with continuous live performing experience, the Vocal Institute of Technology has no parallel in the world of contemporary vocal training. The VIT program is designed to build your technique and stylistic identity as well as confidence in your abilities as a professional in the music industry. As a VIT student, you take the skills you develop in classes and private lessons directly to the stage, learning not just how to sing, but how to communicate effectively with a live audience. MI¡¯s large pool of talented musicians is available to provide backing whether you concentrate on your own style, explore different styles, or showcase original material in front of industry professionals. With a creative performing environment unique among music schools, VIT challenges you to explore your individual truth as an artist.
BACHELORS DEGREE PROGRAM The VIT Bachelors Degree Program offers conservatory-style training in commercial music adapted to the needs of the contemporary vocalist. Built around a strong foundation in vocal technique, stylistic performing experience and musicianship, the fully accredited Degree Program incorporates the broader, deeper elements of a college-level music education to produce versatile professional singers. For details, please visit the Degree Program page.
PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM The VIT Performance Program is designed to raise your technical skills, musicianship and performing experience to a level that allows you to sing any style of music you choose. Created by singers for singers, the one-year (four quarter) VIT Performance Program allows vocalists to concentrate in their main stylistic area or experiment with a broad range of styles, all within MI¡¯s unique, hands-on, performance-intensive environment. A combination of core classes, live playing workshops, private lessons, open counseling and electives as well as seminars and clinics by professional singers make VIT¡¯s Performance Program the number-one choice in contemporary vocal education.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE PROGRAM If your goal is to be a working professional singer, the VIT Professional Program was created for you. This six-month (two quarter) program is designed for Performance Program grads (or the equivalent) who want to take their singing to a higher level of professional polish and versatility. The Professional Program emphasizes the upper-level techniques, musicianship, performing experience and career skills that you need in order to compete in the industry. At the same time, the Professional Program provides the ideal opportunity to spread your wings creatively, expanding your stylistic range and going deeper into the heart of the music that inspires you.
VIT ENCORE PROGRAM For singers who have a limited amount of time or who wish to concentrate in a certain area without the requirements of a certificate program, the non-certificate Encore Program is ideal. After an initial evaluation, as a VIT Encore student you will receive personal guidance as you create your own mix of classes, concentrating on a single specialty or experimenting with a wide range of subjects as you see fit. VIT Encore students can also choose designated classes from other MI programs to create a customized curriculum that combines vocals with other instrumental, professional and creative skills. Please visit the Encore Program page for more details.
VIT ELECTIVE CLASSES Current VIT elective classes are listed below. See the All-School Electives page for more choices, and designated electives from other MI programs are also available. Download or order a current Course Catalog for more information, and email or call an Admissions Representative for the most current information about the availability of specific electives (most electives are not scheduled every quarter, electives may be added, modified or cancelled at any time prior to the start of a quarter, and some require prerequisites).
