To this point, IAM graduates have been highly successful in entering the field as junior developers and designers?or greater?upon graduating from the existing 9 month Diploma program. This excites us and has motivated our curriculum developers to decide how we can improve that experience for the classes to come and for those interested in returning to cap of their 9 months with this additional period of study.
Term 4 allows students to learn more advanced concepts; indeed, a theme running through the curriculum is Integration. It?s not that this is not the case in the first 3 terms; just the opposite?Integration is what the IAM program is all about. The goal of Term 4, however, is to finish and polish. To inspire and to allow for the creativity core to the trade to emerge in the abilities of students in more powerful, meaningful, and professional ways. The goal of Term 4 is particularly to give students the tools and concepts they need in order to understand and to create what is most current at the highest levels of development, and to prepare graduates better to hit the ground running upon graduation.
Term 4 is also important since it is focused on a criterion of learning that is slightly different from the expectations in the preceding terms. While Terms 1, 2, and 3 provide extensive emphasis in Project Management and Client Relationships, Term 4 prepares students for the rigors of employment within the field of commercial web development. The emphases turn to the concept of team development and skill specialization. While one of the courses in Term 4 prepares students for moving on as Freelance developers, the remaining courses feed the major term requirement: students working in a team with specific roles and responsibilities, and supervised by a Project Manager, to conceptualize, plan, market, and create a web application and web-based business.
The final result, to prepare students for the two career possibilities, or choices, they might make upon graduation.
Were looking forward to seeing the results!
