Course Description:

'' This one-year diploma program in HCNA provides balanced and complete training in the classroom, supervised clinical experience in a long-term care facility,
community setting and home, and a six-month co-op component. It is designed to provide students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, and
values necessary to function as a health care and nursing assistant in a variety of long term care settings which include home support, hospitals,
and residential care facilities. The graduates should be able to provide care to children and adults who experience diverse health and illness needs.
According to the Canadian Government, a caregiver under special Immigration category “Live-In Caregiver Program (LCP)�?automatically becomes
eligible to apply for permanent residence (”Landed Immigrant�?status) after the caregiver has worked under the program for at least two years.
The caregiver must have successfully completed secondary school, must have training in the field of occupation related to the employment, and must
have the ability to speak, read, and understand English or French.
