Course Description:
'' To become certified as a PSW, a course made up of classroom work, and practical placement must be successfully completed. Regular evaluation of class and pratical work is undertaken by the instructors, and placement hosts. This training program replaces the training previously required for Health Care Aides, Home Support Workers, Attendant Care Providers and Respite Workers.
Student Evaluations All students are required to complete a skills pass book with their preceptor and their course instructor. Students will be required to maintain a minimum academic standing. Students must also pass the practical exam and demonstrate a satisfactory skill level before completing the placement portion of the course. A diploma is granted when all course work is successfully completed.
Clinical Practicum In the Personal Support Worker Program, students spend a number of hours in a practical placement. Practicum is provided in a facility, private home, or other community support setting. It offers students the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills through experimental learning. ...''
