Course Description:
'' Whether you set sail aboard a square-rigged, three-masted tall ship or one of our 30¡¯ ketch-rigged pulling boats modeled after early nineteenth century whale boats, your Hurricane Island sailing expedition will be spent eating, sleeping and working together with your team (we call them ¡°watches¡±) to navigate your way through the open ocean or in and around secluded coves and harbors on the coast of Maine, the Chesapeake Bay or The Florida Keys. You can even sail abroad on one of our international sailing expeditions.
You¡¯ll experience variable conditions¡ªtraveling through different types of seas, though fog and under cloudless skies, by sunlight and moonlight and success depends on using the sail theory, navigation, communication and leadership skills you will acquire. You might stop to explore remote islands--you might even spend your ¡°solo¡± alone on one. Whatever kind of boat you choose and wherever your expedition takes you every Outward Bound sailing expedition is a journey through a rich variety of marine life and some of the most beautiful seascapes you will ever experience. ...''
