Course Description:

'' Electronic Fundamentals 1 will combine the principles of DC and AC theory on passive components to include practical circuitry involving active devices.The student will expand on atomic theory in relation to the characteristics of semi-conductive material and its use in creating active devices. With a comprehension of the operation of these devices, from a simple diode to various transistors and switching components, the student must demonstrate knowledge of circuit parameters and design criteria. Further understanding must be exhibited in analysis of practical circuit operations.

Topics include: semiconductor theory and related terminology, diode operation and circuit application, analysis and design of power supplies, operation and application of Zener and Varactor, power and light-emitting diodes, voltage multipliers, limiters and DC clampers, and troubleshooting a diode circuit. Bipolar junction transistors are also introduced.
