'' Whether the focus of the day is to develop community, confidence or leadership, "initiatives" provide excellent tools for everyone to be challenged, reflect and learn. "Initiatives" are activities that require participants to work together to achieve a common goal and to use new, unfamiliar, and possibly uncomfortable modes of behavior and communication in order to succeed. They are active and varied and may include: name games, trust falls, raft building or launching an egg intact over extreme distances using bungee cords, sticks, and ingenuity. Through thoughtful facilitation, our instructors enable participants to analyze their customary role in the group, to take risks, to try new ideas, learn new skills and to have fun. These programs can take place at school, at the New York City Outward Bound Center or in the field. ...''
