'' With Canada’s aging population, the role of the Personal Support Worker has become an integral part of the country’s health care solutions. The demand has never been greater for qualified professionals to care for the elderly and those with physical, cognitive or mental health issues. With empathy and the right training you can make a dramatic difference in peoples�lives. In this program, students are taught to master the personal and occupational skills required for the care of individuals living at home and in long-term care facilities. Participants learn to identify and respond to the physical and emotional needs of clients. Core components of the PSW program include: promoting physical and mental activation, observing and communicating with clients in positive and appropriate ways, assisting with mobility issues, household management, medications, and safe-handling of specialized equipment. Students learn how to implement and maintain comprehensive care strategies which support the overall physical and emotional well-being of those in their care.
