Course Description:
'' Students receive comprehensive training both in a classroom and clinical setting. PTA’s as they are often called, provide physical therapy treatments to patients under direction of and as assistants to a Physiotherapist. Work settings include hospitals, physiotherapy clinics, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, sports medicine clinics, community health care agencies and other medical settings. Their duties may require them to administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises and modality treatments.
This full time diploma program was developed using the “National Guidelines for Support Workers in Physiotherapy Practice in Canada�published by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators and the “Physiotherapist Assistant Program Standard�
The program is 43 weeks (1075 hours) in length, and consist of 500 hours of physiotherapy assisting related theory, 375 hours of practical skills in the school’s well –equipped labs and 200 hours (8 weeks) of clinical work placement in a Physiotherapy facility. ...''
