Training Course:

Cisco CCNA Configuring Frame Relay and ISDN

School/Trainer:

JER Group
56 Seabreeze Way, United States

Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced

Course Description:

'' This unit introduces the features of Frame Relay technology. In addition, the unit defines the Frame Relay terms associated with bandwidth. It examines the process for transmitting data from the source to the destination over a Frame Relay network. Frame Relay terms, such as virtual circuits and Data Link Connection Identifier (DLCI) are introduced, and the format of a Frame Relay frame is explained. This unit also discusses the mechanisms of controlling congestion in a Frame Relay network. This unit introduces two methods of Frame Relay mapping, static mapping and mapping using LMI. In addition, the unit explains the features of LMI and the function of Inverse ARP in a Frame Relay network. It will also examine the different topologies that you can use to implement Frame Relay. Disadvantages of the star topology and how you can overcome these disadvantages is discussed. The two types of sub-interfaces, point-to-point and multipoint are examined. You will also learn the commands required for configuring Frame Relay, how you can configure static routes for enabling Frame Relay or configure a router to create dynamic Frame Relay maps by using LMI. This unit explains the features and advantages of ISDN, introduces the devices used in an ISDN network, the protocols used for making an ISDN connection, and the various channels by which this connection can be made. The commands to configure ISDN BRI and to monitor ISDN interfaces is also covered.
Outcomes:
Upon Completion of this unit students will know, understand and be able to discuss This features of Frame Relay technology, bandwidth, process for transmitting data from the source to the destination over a Frame Relay, terms such as virtual circuits and Data Link Connection Identifier (DLCI), the format of a Frame Relay, mechanisms of controlling congestion in a Frame Relay network, two methods of Frame Relay mapping using LMI, the function of Inverse ARP, the different topologies that you can use to implement Frame Relay, the features and advantages of ISDN, the devices used in an ISDN network, the protocols used for making an ISDN connection, and the various channels by which this connection can be made, configuration commands for ISDN BRI and to monitor ISDN interfaces.
Assessment:
Students are presented with pre-course test to determine their knowledge before taking the course. During the course students will be presented with a series of quizzes to determine gained knowledge and retention of each section. At the end of the course students will be given a post course test to measure their overall understanding of the subject and retention of knowledge. By comparing their pre and post course test scores, students will be able to measure their knowledge gain.
