Course Objectives

Virtual private networks (VPNs) set the foundation for delivering incremental New World services. They allow service providers to consolidate data, voice and video services onto a single network, reducing operational and capital expenses. VPNs also enable new revenue-generating opportunities by allowing service providers to expand their service menus to include applications that run across the IP-based VPN network. Among these emerging services are packet telephony, videoconferencing, e-commerce and other mission-critical data, voice and video applications. A VPN solution built with MPLS/VPN technology affords broad scalability and flexibility across any IP, IP+ATM or multivendor backbone. In contrast with IP tunnel and virtual-circuit architectures, MPLS-based VPNs enable connectionless routing within each VPN community. Subsequently, service providers can easily scale their services to support tens of thousands of VPNs on the same infrastructure, with full QoS benefits across IP and ATM environments. The Advanced MPLS VPN Solutions course gives the student all the technology, design and implementation knowledge needed to quickly and successfully deploy VPN services based on MPLS/VPN.
