'' Building capacity and best practice to improve efficiency and social delivery in the water sector. This programme is focused on improving management and regulation of water services (the bulk and retail water industry) rather than on upstream water resources.

Government: Senior government officials responsible for water sector reforms, regulation and pricing (ministries of finance, water, public enterprises, etc)
Regulators: Key decision-makers, senior managers and professionals in regulatory agencies responsible for the water sector (inside or independent from government)
Providers: Senior managers in water utilities, government and government agencies responsible for the provision of water services
Programme objectives

Learn about best practice in water sector reform and regulation in Africa and around the world
Deepen your knowledge of the technical aspects of the economic regulation and pricing of water services
Develop a peer network in Africa for ongoing knowledge exchange

Topics include: governance models, regulatory techniques, decentralisation versus aggregation, improving public sector performance, the debate around privatisation, the role of leadership, managing stakeholders, promoting access for the poor, protecting consumers, regulating pricing and investments and critical success factors for reform
