'' In many African countries, the reform of the electricity sector has involved investments by independent power producers (IPPs) who enter into power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the incumbent utility or the transmission or system operator. Many countries have expressed dissatisfaction with these PPAs and have locked themselves into non-competitive prices. This course seeks to expose participants to the frontiers in international experience in negotiating fair and sustainable PPAs with IPPs. This short course is offered by the Managing Infrastructure Reform and Regulation (MIR) management programme at the GSB, a leading centre of excellence and expertise in Africa and in emerging economies.
