'' Jump-start your mastery of the Java programming language on the latest Java 2 platform. Gain hands-on coding experience while building real-world applications in a vendor-neutral environment. This course provides a comprehensive review for the industry-recognized Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform examination.
Course Objectives :
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
Know the various Java architectures including applications, applets, and servlets
Be familiar with the Java development and run-time environments
Be fluent in the Java language syntax
Understand and apply object-oriented concepts when building Java programs
Use core features of Java, including:
Building a Graphical User Interface (GUI)
Error handling
Multithreading
Input and output streams
Interacting with databases
Have the foundation to proceed on to Sybase courses covering advanced Java topics such as RAD with PowerJ, Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs), J2EE, and Java in the database.
Gain hands on coding experience through building a real world application.
Be versed in the topics covered in the Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform exam.

Course focus is on the Java language and not on any particular development tool; overview of Java technology; Java language basics (structure, organization, syntax); Java programming basics (operators, expressions, flow control0; principles of object-oriented programming; applying object-oriented programming in Java handling exceptions; working with input/output (I/O) streams; Java programming toolbox; designing graphic user interface (AWT GUI); GUI event handling; accessing the database using JDBC; multi-threading; and Enterprise Java ¨C Java Certified Programmer examination review (including the J2EE specifications).
