Course Description:

'' Focus on fundamental to complex Java XML topics within the context of a Java 2 Platform. Enterprise Edition (J2EE) on-line B2C/B2B use case scenario, and prepare for Java XML-based Web application development projects. Develop a real-world Java XML application and learn to apply this new knowledge toward the development of ¡°portable date¡± (XML) and ¡°portable code¡± (Java) solutions. Study the advantages of XML and Java 2 architectures, the most current Java XML libraries, and the XML 1.0 family specifications (including Xquery, Xpath and XML navigation, Xlink and Xpointer modules). Hands-on labs and discussions demonstrate how to write XML-aware Java applications that parse and manage XML documents using the Java API for XML parsing (JAXP), the simple API for XML (SAX), and the document object model (DOM) interfaces.
Course Objectives :
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
Identify and describe major categories of XML application development
Write JAVA web applications using JAXP, SAX and DOM APIs to parse and manipulate XML documents
Define XML, SAX, DOM and JAXP
Write programs that use a validating, namespace-aware parser using JAXP
Convert an existing XML document to another output format, such as Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), using an Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) processor and a given XSLT file
Write XSL stylesheets to perform XSLT transforms
Explain how various JAVA technologies can be used in XML application solutions today
Course Topics :
Structuring data (hierarchical structure); defining XML documents (tags, text data, elements, and attributes); well-formed and valid XML (attribute, value pair, and start/end tags); XML modularity and namespaces; defining XSL (presentation and style); defining XSLT (XML transformations); JAXB (Java architecture for XML binding); JAXM (Java API for XML messaging); and XML and Web services (SOAP, WDSL, and UDDI).
