'' Develop middle-tier components and OLTP applications using PowerBuilder 8.0 for deployment to an application components transaction server (CTS) such as Enterprise Application Server (EAServer) 4.X. Learn how to develop robust applications using PowerDynamo, Sybase¡¯s dynamic page serve, and EAServer¡¯s CTS. Set up and connect to EAServer CTS, and build, deploy, manage, and debug components created primarily in PowerBuilder. Also learn how to access CORBA and EJB components from PowerBuilder clients. Course Objectives : Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: Develop middle-tier components and deploy them to EAServer CTS Create and use connection caches in EAServer Retrieve data from an EAServer CTS component using DataWindows and ResultSet objects Generate a result set from a PowerBuilder component and forward it to different client applications Use an EAServer component to update a client-side DataWindow Access a PowerBuilder NVO deployed as a component by a thin HTML client Manage EAServer transactions from a PowerBuilder client application Access Declarative Properties through script Implement instance pooling Manage the component life cycle Create stateful and stateless EAServer components Differentiate Standard, Service and Shared components Course Topics : Distributed architecture; EAServer overview and positioning; exception handling; creating the first PowerBuilder / EAServer application; managing the component lifecycle; processing database information; managing transactions; upgrading objects to EAServer components; working with HTML clients; working with shared components; and working with EJB clients (optional).
