This introduction to beginning communication skills through the language of sign, with an emphasis in American Sign Language (ASL), introduces students to basic grammatical structures and sign vocabulary through conversational classroom interactions involving everyday topics. Emphasis is on basic vocabulary, grammar, and cultural information about ASL as students learn how to communicate in a visual-gestural channel. No prior knowledge of ASL is required. ...
