Training Course:

The DDA. It’s now the law. Think about it.

School/Trainer:

Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce
Northampton, United Kingdom

Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced

Course Description:

'' The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 requires that all Service Providers and Employers (of which the bank is one), treat disabled people no less favourably than any other customer or potential employee. To achieve this requirement, may require some lateral thinking and perhaps changes to the way in the way you operate your organisation or service may be expectedin the past.

For example: home visits, making a ground floor room available for interviews etc may be some of the ways of meeting this obligation as a service provider. Providing information in alternative formats may be another. However, where people are required to physically visit a building, the onus is on the service provider to ensure that their service is accessible to disabled and sensory impaired customers in a way that does not diminish the level of service provided for all. Ensuring your recruitment processes include an equal opportunities policy for disabled people is another.

For all organisations, an understanding by staff of their duties and responsibilities under the DDA will go a long way to improving their awareness of and their attitude towards disability.

This short course encompasses awareness of a wide range of physical and sensory impairments, with specific sessions on: The Disability Discrimination Act, Communication and Behaviour.

This session will
Provide you with an overview of the Disability Discrimination Act and your responsibilities as a service provider, dispelling myths and providing facts about this Act;
Test your knowledge- and raise your awareness and understanding of various disabilities and sensory impairments so that you and your organisation will be better equipped to make your service more accessible to all.
