Effective Intervention Techniques

School/Trainer:

Anderson-davis, Inc.
Centennial, CO, United States

Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced

Course Description:

'' This very innovative, interactive and effective course provides management personnel with practical and proven intervention skills for stopping unacceptable behaviors they hear, see and or read when no one has complained.

This e-learning course can be effectively used in new supervisor’s, management coaching and development, sexual harassment, diversity, and conflict resolution training programs.

Brief Overview of the Course Content:

Lesson I Introduction and Insights About Intervention
Potential Problems of Non-Intervention
What are the Benefits of Early Intervention?
Participant Knowledge Review (Pre-Test)

Important: Lessons II, III and IV use scenario dramatizations of a supervisors intervention. The scenario is paused when the harasser makes a defensive comment or response or a third party expresses a concern.

The student (management person) is then asked to select the supervisor’s most effective response to what the harasser just said or did. After selecting a response the student will learn why one response is less effective and then see the supervisor demonstrate the more effective response.

Lesson II The Intervention
How to Effectively Respond to Harasser’s Defensive Comments, i.e.,:
"You’re taking all the fun out of the workplace."
"Can’t they leave if they don’t want to hear?"
Review of Intervention Skills

Lesson III The Third Party Intervention Meeting
Reasons for Talking with Third Parties
How to Effectively Respond to Third Party Concerns, i.e.,:
"Their personal conversation is none of my business."
"They’ll blame me!"

Lesson IV The Hostile Harasser
How to Effectively Respond to The Hostile Harasser’s Defensive Comments, i.e.,:
"Why? We were just having a private conversation!"
"This conversation is over!"
"I’ve got strong opinions."
"I’ll try to stop"
