'' This 4-day course provides instructor-led training with assisted, hands-on labs. The curriculum is designed to give students a firm understanding of the Cisco Aironet product set, radio frequency theory, 802.11 standards, WLAN topologies, basic antenna theory and an introduction to WLAN security and bridging techniques. Hands-on access point and client adaptor labs provide attendees with experience setting up and securing a wireless LAN. Presentation material will explore WLAN applications in specific markets, WLAN topologies and design concerns, essential equipment, AP configuration, and site survey techniques.
Course Objectives After completing this course the student should be able to:
Prepare the student for subsequent WLAN (Wireless LAN) courses State basic RF and Antenna theory Explain difference among various WLAN standards Demonstrate various WLAN topologies Identify and define Cisco WLAN product offerings Install and configure client adapter, access point, bridge and workgroup bridge Configure Fast Roaming and Radio Management using Cisco SWAN Explain advanced WLAN applications including Metropolitan Mobile Networks, components of a Networks in Motion solution, and the basic concepts of Mobile IP, mobile routers, and mobile networks Understand requirements of a manual and automated site survey Generate proper documentation of site survey findings including how to quote a complete WLAN solution with staging and installation services, and all necessary equipment Installation techniques and WLAN infrastructure issue Intended Audience Technical sales and technical engineers that will be designing, selling, installing and/or supporting wireless LANs. Technical individuals that will be tasked with performing site surveys for Wireless LAN solution implementations Prerequisites None. Although it is recommended that participant should have a working knowledge of:
Commonly used networking terms and topologies The basic functions of a network protocol Fundamental network device roles (for example, hub, bridge, router and switch) The Open System Interconnection (OSI) reference Model The use of Windows 95/NT to run multiple applications Accessing the Internet or an Intranet Binary and hexadecimal numbering Delegates undertaking the course in order to qualify for the Wireless LAN Specialisation should hold the CCDA if taking the Systems Engineer role or CQS Wireless LAN Design Specialist, or the CCNA if taking the Field Engineer role or CQS Wireless LAN Support Specialist. Those who will be fulfilling both System and Field Engineer roles within the Specialisation should have both CCNA and CCDA certification.
