Now Available! Take our Instructor Training Course - This course is designed to teach kayakers how to pass their skills on to others, and is directed towards those who have taken a kayaking class with Cal Adventures or who have some prior paddling experience.

The ideal course for those wanting a solid introduction to kayaking in a short amount of time is our Sea Kayaking 1 class. In a fun environment, beginners learn basic equipment, safety and efficient paddling techniques. Enroll now in one of our Spring (March-May), Summer, or Fall (September-November) classes

The three session Sea Kayaking Mini-Comprehensive class is for anyone who wants an in-depth introduction to sea kayaking. Our Sea Kayaking Comprehensive class is a five session introductory class covering everything from the parts of the kayak to rough water paddling, navigation and advanced recovery techniques.

During our Full Moon Paddles watch the sun set beyond the Golden Gate and the moon rise above the East Bay hills as we paddle our double kayaks on the Bay. Dress warmly for these way cool excursions. No previous kayaking experience required.

Our Sunday Morning Group Paddle meets at UCAC every Sunday from March through October from 10 A.M. till 1 P.M. Group paddles are a great way to meet other enthusiastic sea kayakers of different skill levels. One staff person will be on hand to facilitate the group, answer questions and to give pointers. Equipment is provided, SK1 course or the equivalent is required. Free for pass holders, $15 for RSF members and $20 for non members. Drop in only, no reservations are taken.

Cal Adventures rents single, closed-deck sea kayaks to individuals who have passed SK 1 or the equivalent. Ability to describe an assisted rescue to the Recreational Supervisor on duty at the UCAC and previous experience are prerequisites for renting our closed-deck boats. Wetsuits, spray jackets and P.F.D.s (personal flotation devices) are included with all rental prices.
