Course Description:

'' The General English course program is for students who want English language skills for everyday communication. Each course is divided into eight units of one week each. When students first arrive, they are tested and placed in a class ideal for their level.

The timetable also includes two sessions of Applied English each week. There are 3 streams for Applied English:


Academic - an intensive course for determined students
Vocational - this includes work experience, Business English and CALL
Recreation - specialised language skills for cultural and recreational activities like video making, health & fitness, water sports and other sports
Phoenix offers 9 levels of General English:

Beginner
Elementary
Pre-Intermediate 1
Pre-Intermediate 2
Intermediate 1
Intermediate 2
Upper-Intermediate 1
Upper Intermediate 2
Advanced
Each course lasts 8 weeks and there are currently 30 classes running at different levels. The English covered is topic/task based with a strong emphasis on communicative English - language for real life.

Although students work with a course book, a lot of authentic material is used along with multimedia resources (language laboratory, computer lab, audio & video).

Time is spent on all 4 skills: speaking, listening, reading & writing but the course is flexible enough so that the students needs can be built into the syllabus.
