'' Lean companies not only achieve lean on the plant floor but also are able to extend lean to the supply base. A lean supply chain requires lean inbound and outbound logistics along with a lean shop floor. This certification program will illustrate how you can analyze the relevant transportation and inventory expenses and develop a lean logistics system that supports the lean enterprise. Lean Logistics & Supply Chain Certificate Program is taught by world-class faculty who are experts in the area and emphasizes real-life case studies and hands-on activities to create an interactive learning experience.
Program Objectives
The program is divided into two weeks:
Week I focuses on understanding how to strategically design and manage a lean logistics system, with Week II focus on more tactical tools.
1. Evaluate the extended value chain
2. Understand how material flows in the extended value chain and how to improve the flows of material and information in the extended value chain
3. Assess where to keep inventory in the value chain and how to manage the inventory
4. Evaluate global sourcing opportunities using a total logistics cost model
5. Understand the bullwhip effect and causes of variability in the value chain and how to eliminate it using better information sharing
6. Learn the role of third party logistics providers and the benefits and risks of using them
7. Understand how to implement a world-class warehousing system
8. Focus on how to manage transportation in your value chain
9. Assess the role of ERP, CRM and other information systems and their benefits
10. Become familiar with logistics network design principles
11. Understand how to implement collaborative planning, forecasting, and replenishment with your value chain partners
12. Learn successful implementation principles for Vendor Managed Inventory.
