'' This course introduces new graduate students to strategies for academic success within the University of Phoenix. Topics include University of Phoenix Graduate School tools and competencies and written and verbal communication skills. This course introduces the conceptual, analytical, and practical foundations of problem-based learning. This will be done in the context of problem definition, research and information utilization, critical thinking, written and verbal communication skills, negotiation skills, and stakeholder communication skills. Problem-based learning will be framed in the context of the alignment of societal, organizational, and personal values. Topics and Objectives MM Tools and Competencies Identify resources available to students through eCampus to support learning individually and as a team. Review a syllabus to identify all expectations, policies, and deliverables associated with a course at the University of Phoenix. Describe the use of problem-based learning throughout the MM degree program. Use Learning Team resources available on rEsource to launch a learning team for the course. Describe the steps in an effective negotiation. Define the elements of effective communication and the impact of culture and gender on communication. Key Concepts of Business Negotiations Write a paper using correct APA format and style. Apply the nine steps in the University of Phoenix problem-solving model to a negotiations situation. Identify the key elements of a contract. Identify challenges and opportunities presented by the business negotiation problem. Develop a business negotiation problem statement and end state goals.
