As the industry continues to evolve and adopt new technologies, the demand for people with up-to-date technical skills will remain high. According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, "the telecommunications industry provided 1 million wage and salary jobs in 2004." Business demand will continue to rise as companies increasingly rely on their telecommunications systems to conduct electronic commerce, ordering, record keeping, and video conferencing.
