Course Description:
'' The objective of the Network Systems Technology program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required for an entry-level position in the field. The curriculum will provide students with the in-depth knowledge required to plan, implement, maintain, and support information systems in a range of computing and networking environments. Students will learn networking configurations and various operating systems. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology degree.
Graduates of this program may be responsible for the security and administration of networks, and the designing and implementing of the systems that keep networks functioning. Duties may include planning and installing the hardware and software that comprise the network; adding and deleting files to the network server; maintaining printers and other peripherals connected to the network; troubleshooting problems; and developing, implementing, and testing off-site systems that will continue to work in the event of on-site emergencies.
The length of the Network Systems Technology program is eight quarters culminating in 103.5 quarter credit hours.
This program is represented to lead to multiple job opportunities and is not meant to lead to any particular outcome, including that specified in the program title. Although the College will assist the student with job placement, finding a job is the ultimate responsibility of the student.
