Course Description:

'' Learn to create compelling television programming, using industry-related video production tools. The purpose of the Video Production program at The Art Institute of Ohio ¡ª Cincinnati includes a comprehensive education in the skills to reach any audience with video. From concept development and research, through scriptwriting, production, and distribution, graduates will gain experience essential to entering careers in broadcasting, cable TV, advertising, corporate and educational video, and the growing field of video for interactive media ¨C streaming media and web-casting on the internet, DVD, and soon, the new generation of video cell phone technology.

The Video Production program is intended for students who are committed to creative visual storytelling, effective communication, mastery of video production equipment and computer software, and who enjoy working in a highly collaborative environment.

Areas of study include:
• Foundation skills in drawing, design, composition and typography
• Digital image creation and manipulation
• Scriptwriting and storyboarding
• Camera and lighting techniques
• Studio and location video producing and directing
• Non-linear audio and video editing
• Audio recording and mixing for video
• Motion graphics and animation for video
• Web scripting and interactive design
• Media delivery systems, including DVD authoring and streaming media
• A wide range of general education courses

Students take advantage of equipped television and audio studios, computer labs, and a wide range of industry-proven software. They also benefit from working closely with dedicated faculty, many of whom have industry experience, offer real world insights, and help students develop the collaborative skills, maturity, and confidence necessary for professional success. Students complete this program with a sophisticated project. Included in their video portfolio of original production work, students demonstrate their mastery of design, production, and communications skills.

Graduates from the College are prepared to seek entry-level positions in this rapidly expanding and fascinating field. Positions include assistant editor, production assistant, camera operator, audio technician or media compression specialist.
