'' The Interior Design Associate of Arts degree program at The Art Institute of Portland is fashioned to help you develop professionally. We¡¯re looking for students who have a great attention to detail, are enthusiastic, and enjoy managing projects. We need students who are open-minded and enjoy exploring the myriad of possibilities involved in design.
Here, we draw upon the city as our classroom. Portland is known as a city with a high design sensibility and a commitment to green design and sustainability efforts. In this program, you¡¯ll have the opportunity to interact with working professionals, to spend time in their showrooms, to have them critique your own work. You¡¯ll have the chance to learn from instructors/designers who are actively involved in Portland design. In addition to AutoCad, rendering and critical thinking courses, you¡¯ll study construction documents, specifications and codes and interior design as it relates to issues of consumer protection, welfare and health and safety concerns.
Students that graduate with an Associate of Arts degree in Interior Design from The Art Institute of Portland will have skills competitive for entry-level positions in interior design industry. Graduates of the Associate of Arts program may obtain positions with Interior Design showrooms, manufacturers and wholesalers working specifically with the trade.
