'' XML’s continued growth and acceptance in the marketplace has resulted in an increasing need to transform XML compliant documents into other structures and formats. To meet this need, Global Knowledge’s Transforming XML with XSLT class provides students with two solid days of instruction and hands-on exercises to see how and when XSLT should be used in a variety of applications.

The course begins with a general overview of XML and XSLT and then proceeds with an in-depth look at the different parts of the XSLT 1.0 specification including the elements, attributes, namespaces, and functions that need to be understood to truly leverage XSLT’s power. Students will also delve into the XPath language and see how different parts of an XML document can be accessed using XPath statements. Some of the most popular XSLT processors will be discussed including Microsoft’s MSXML3, Apache.org’s Xalan, and Saxon. Students will see how XSLT can be used to dynamically generate HTML, WML documents used on wireless devices, flat-files, and even other forms of XML. The class will also examine different tools that make XSLT document creation easier.
