'' The 14-course (42-semester-credit-hour) Master of Project Management (MPM)* program is designed to help students develop the ability to solve real-world management problems, and to exercise sound management judgment through practical application of project management concepts and skills. In addition to successfully completing five management core and six program-specific courses, one of which is an integrative capstone course, MPM students must receive credit for three elective courses. Unlike traditional business management, which concentrates on ongoing functions and existing operations, project management is an evolving discipline that focuses on pioneering and developing new ideas. MPM students are taught specific concepts and skills required to successfully implement new, or enhance existing, commercial and/or technical programs. In addition, they learn to develop and apply new procedures to resolve existing problems. Although the MPM program focuses on teaching practical project management skills, it also provides the requisite business management expertise needed in key areas such as accounting and finance, marketing and applied statistics. This combination of coursework, coupled with courses specifically focused on project management, ensures that students obtain the full complement of business skills required to successfully manage projects. Focusing on concepts and skills needed to propose, justify and effectively manage projects, the unique MPM program has the following specific objectives: to enable students to develop and communicate project financial and performance objectives to provide students with the skills needed to accurately plan project task, budget and resource requirements to prepare students to effectively monitor, control and report project costs, schedules and quality/performance levels needed to meet targeted milestones and required levels of earned value to equip students with effective leadership skills for promoting a positive environment that will help motivate team members and resolve conflicts DeVry Universitys Keller Graduate School of Management, a Project Management Institute (PMI) Registered Education Provider (REP), is committed to enhancing the ongoing professional development of PMI members, PMI-certified project management professionals and other project management stakeholders through appropriate learning activities and products.
