'' This course provides delegates with the necessary skills to prepare project plans and control progress. This includes:

formal modules on theories behind the techniques for planning a project
workshop to explore and discuss practical issues and share experiences
syndicate exercises to confirm understanding
expert tuition to consolidate and extend their knowledge of project planning
practical instruction in the use of plans to support progress monitoring

Pre Requisites for Attendance

Delegates should have ideally attended the Project Management Overview course and be familiar with the principles and terminology of PRINCE2. Delegates should be aware of:

the difference between the various plans such as project and stage plans produced during a project lifecycle
the difference between products and activities
the capabilities of common planning software e.g. Microsoft Project even if not yet used.

Delegates will learn:

how to establish clear and realistic targets and objectives for projects and ensure completion is on time and within budget
to select the appropriate techniques and tools used in planning and controlling projects to suit the size and type of project being managed
why projects need plans
how to define the scope and deliverables of the project and creating realistic plans
how to select appropriate resources
how to sequence activities and estimating

practical tips on producing and presenting plans
PRINCE2 Product Based Planning technique
effective control, monitoring and reporting progress
building quality requirements into a plan
