Course Description:

'' ’Hospitality’ is a fast-expanding area, creating many job opportunities with preparations for the London 2012 Olympics being a large attraction. This will see a great increase with visitors from overseas and the industry needs skilled people in this field.
To reflect this, the course will feature guest speakers from the industry, visits to local providers, careers/progression advice, opportunities to develop good communication skills/confidence and specific work with vocational skills/key skills.

The course is one of ’continuous assessment’ (no exam) and so students are encouraged & helped to work independently, creating individual portfolios of their work for assessment.

Progression
Success at this course/level can lead to other courses at Bromley College - with progression to the Level 3 ’Travel & Tourism’ being a common choice.
There is also the opportunity for each individual to enhance their CV (curriculum vitae) with a view to going directly into work within the various industry sectors (please refer to ’General Information’ above).

- the diversity of the Hospitality business, staffing and jobs
- customer relations, interpersonal and presentation skills
- planning and running a hospitality event
- market research and promotional activities
- costs and selling prices
- the specialist nature of hospitality within ’travel & tourism’
