Training Course:Energy efficient buildingsSchool/Trainer:Building Research Establishment BRE Watford, United Kingdom
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' BRE and other European partners are currently involved in an EU-funded action to raise the awareness of EU labelling schemes and to encourage the application of energy efficient construction products. This project will utilise best practice in the construction products manufacturing sector and aims to accelerate the EU market towards regulated energy efficient buildings and the use of improved energy products with eco-design specifications.
The project aims to introduce labelled construction products within the European market via a voluntary mechanism. This action should motivate EU industry to produce more efficient construction products and facilitate the implementation of new EU Directives at practice level.
This workshop will look at some of the issues surrounding this project relating to the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), existing labelling schemes for buildings and products, issues for energy efficient buildings and the views and perspective of manufacturers of building products. These topics will be explored further during the workshop session, together with the potential benefits of a European labelling scheme for building products ¨C the EU GREEN-IT Project.
As part of the EU project, BRE has set up a UK GREEN-IT Club which is made up of manufacturers and trade associations from within the UK. The purpose of the Club is to allow the UK industry to have input to the EU GREEN-IT Project via BRE. As the GREEN-IT project is researching the possibility of a European label for building products and materials, the input from the UK industry is essential to ensure that any future labelling scheme is useful and relevant in the UK. As part of this workshop BRE will seek input from the industry to inform the current research into a future labelling scheme.
