'' To provide Home Inspectors and other professionals with a detailed understanding of the principles of roofing, and highlight the responsibilities of the Inspector to work within the principles of good practice. Specifically that Home Inspectors:
Understand and comply with best practice roofing principles Understand legislation relating to roofing Know the principal differences in construction practice between flat and pitched roofs Are aware of the forensic investigations required to determine the causes of defects associated with roofs
The course will be placed in the context of the Home Inspectors inspection and reporting requirements. It will highlight the common problems that can occur with flat and pitched roofs.

Health & Safety The design of flat and pitched roofs Common materials used and their likely performance. Recognising the difference between rainwater penetration and condensation Conducting a thorough Inspection Assessing defects Building Regulations and their impact Parapet Walls Cracking and movement Deterioration of materials There will be a post-course assessment of competence.
