'' To provide home inspectors and other professionals with a knowledge of the principles of services and utilities in domestic property. This will include electrical, heating, gas, water, and drainage installations. The course will be placed in the context of Home Inspectors’ inspection and reporting requirements. It will refer to relevant legislation and Building Regulations and will include recognition of Health and Safety issues and a review of regulations applicable to new works within residential properties.

The course will show how, from a visual inspection, the general condition of services can be assessed to meet the requirements of the Home Condition Report. The course will cover:

Identifying the type, age and general condition of the different elements of the service
Common defects
Identifying obvious hazards or safety issues associated with the service
Applicable Building Regulations and other relevant standards
Situations that are likely to require further tests and examination by specialists
Determining the appropriate condition rating
