'' For over 15 years, Business Language Training has provided specialist English language training for lawyers. Through our work with clients such as Allen & Overy, Cameron McKenna, Clifford Chance, Denton Wilde Sapte, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Herbert Smith, Lovells and Simmons & Simmons as well as the corporate legal departments of many international organisations, we have developed this one-week, highly specialised English for Lawyers course.

The Course
An individually tailored course for practising lawyers with a good level of English but who need to improve their command of spoken and written English for their work. This course will focus on developing a clear, accurate and unambiguous use of English as well as an ability to draft and manipulate English in written form.

Content
Working on a one-to-one basis enables us to concentrate entirely on your specific professional needs. Legal English courses may focus on many different aspects of the law or on one particular area but all will include a carefully structured balance of input:

Situational ¨C interviewing, advising, presenting, negotiating,
note-taking, summarising, reporting, drafting

Lexical ¨C with input from practising lawyers, we work on developing general business and legal vocabulary as well as the specific terminology relating to your branch of law or area of specialisation

Topical ¨C your course can be as general or specialised as you need it to be ¨C we cover a range of challenging topics based on legal problems, case studies, contracts, interviews, reports, broadcasts, news summaries

Skills-based ¨C training will focus on developing advanced communication strategies in English ¨C clarifying and seeking clarification, arguing a point, giving opinions, summarising, dealing with conflict and challenging situations’, reading for detail and gist, writing (including drafting contracts).
