Course Description:

'' This course is aimed at people who work in the contracting sector and who wish to develop the middle management skills to progress within their industry. It is designed to enable you to widen your development as a manager and focused on the specific needs of the contracting industry. You will attend a residential weekend each year to further develop your management skills.

Structure
This course is available on a part-time basis and also by distance learning. The course can normally be completed in two years when studied part-time, however the opportunity exists for individuals to complete at a pace to suit them. Progress on the course is measured by continuous assessment.

Content
Students will study a number of areas relevant to management including:
- Contracting Industry Project Contracting Operations: An Introduction
- Contracting Procedures
- Corporate Management
- Economics and Financial Aspects of the Contracting Sector: An
Introduction
- Fundamental of Marketing
- Human Resource Management Practice
- Organisation and Management Theories.

Career Opportunities
You can prepare yourself for promotion within your own organisation and within the sector by studying for this qualification. The course is recommended by the Employers Associations for individuals progressing to management positions within Contracting Management, Facilities Management and Project Management.

Progression
Progression routes have been agreed into Diploma in Management at the Andrew Carnegie Business School and thereafter into MBA courses or MSc courses at Napier University.

Preferred Entry Requirements
You will preferably be in a supervisory first line management position within the organisation. You should have experience in managing people and have other supervisory experience.
