Course Description:

'' This will allow you to develop skills in Multimedia that will be required by those seeking work in this area. The course covers the fundamentals of multimedia design and creation, taking a practical approach to developing a range of skills needed to work in this area. You will then develop these skills to advanced level using industry standard software such as PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, Flash and Director.

Structure
This course is offered on a full-time basis over two years. This qualification is accredited by the SQA and is assessed continuously throughout. It will be delivered in our custom built, Digital Media Learner Base within Media Space on the Halbeath Campus.

Content
The course includes the following subjects:
- Multimedia Fundamentals
- Audio Visual Techniques
- User Interface Development
- Graphics for Multimedia Design
- Internet: e-Commerce
- Developing Multimedia Application
- Digital Imaging and Animation
- 3-D Modelling and Animation
- Video Production
- Advanced Vector and Bitmap Graphics
- User Interface Testing and Evaluation
- Project Management.

The course also contains units in Communication and IT.

Career Opportunities
Successful completion of this course could lead to employment in a range of posts in the Creative Industries. Candidates may gain employment in such areas as graphic design, multimedia design and development or in the audio visual field.

Progression
Successful completion of this course can give direct entry to the third year of BSc Multimedia Technology at Napier University and to a range of other degrees at other HE establishments.

Preferred Entry Requirements
To study this course you will need a minimum of two Highers (one in a computing related subject or equivalent) or an NQ in Multimedia. Mature entry is encouraged and will be assessed on an individual basis. All candidates will be expected to have excellent IT skills on entry.
