Course Description:

'' Lauder College has designed this course to offer vocational training which will lead to a qualification in aromatherapy. It provides professional training for people wishing to practice aromatherapy and is validated by the Guild of Complementary Practitioners.

Structure
This course is a series of SQA Higher National units delivered part-time in the evenings, running every second year. The course is assessed by closed and open book written assessments combined with practical ongoing assessments.

For the practical element of this course students are required to wear appropriate uniform - ’whites’. Students should also seek insurance through the Guild of Complementary Practitioners for Working Practice.

Content
The course covers the following areas:
- Physical Aspects of Health and Well-being
- First Aid including First Aid at Work
- Body Treatments Manual
- Massage Working Practice
- Aromatherapy
- Aromatherapy Working Practice.

The Physical Aspects of Health and Well-being and First Aid including First Aid at Work units are common to Aromatherapy, Massage and Reflexology PDA awards and it is recommended that they are studied first or concurrently with other units.

Career Opportunities
This course is ideal for those seeking a career within the Health and Fitness Industry. It will benefit candidates seeking employment or self-employment in this area.

Progression
Candidates may progress to the HNC Complementary Therapies at Moray College or the BSc Complementary Therapies at Napier University.

Preferred Entry Requirements
Students must be aged over 17 to enter this course. It is expected that applicants will have achieved the PDA Massage or Massage Working Practice.

Applicants must have achieved the Physical Aspects of Health and Well Being Higher National unit before they can gain entry to the massage element of this course.
